As you learned in Lesson 3: Connecting with Students and Managing Learning Environments, one of the ways to get to know your students is by holding one on one, individual meetings with each of them. Below is an example of information you may gather from your individual student interview and how to organize it. Check out the blank version of this form you can fill out yourself in the supplemental materials.

Example: Mrs. Davies is a Pre-ETS Provider at Mountain High School. In order to learn more about each of her students, Mrs. Davies decides it would be a good idea to meet one-on-one with each of them. Mrs. Davies should ask the following questions about each student’s PINS:

  1. Preferences: What types of environments do you feel comfortable working or learning in?
  2. Interests: What do you like to do outside of school? Do you have any careers you are interested in?
  3. Needs: What are some of the things that you need to help you succeed?
  4. Strengths: What are some things that you are really good at? What are your favorite things about yourself?
  5. Other: What are your short- and long-term goals? Is there anything else I should know?
